James Bickford is Managing Partner of Leo Burnett Consultancy, based in Singapore, charged with delivering a new and ambitious business-to-brand consultancy across Asia-Pacific. The Consultancy has been created to unleash the purpose of brands for the benefit of humankind and in doing so, accelerate, grow and create future value for the organisations it partners. James was previously Managing Director and Head of Strategy at Interbrand New Zealand, part of Interbrand Worldwide and Omnicom. James was a member of the Interbrand APAC Leadership team and also served on the Board of DDB Group, New Zealand. James launched Interbrand in New Zealand in 2008, shaping strategy and growth in the market, enhancing its brand value generating services to a prestigious roster of clients both locally and internationally.
James has the benefit of over 20 years of brand consulting experience with a deep and diverse insight about how brands influence cultures, customers and shape markets on a national and international scale. James has worked with global and local brands, government, venture capital and business incubators internationally (Russia, Middle East, Europe, USA and Asia Pacific). James is a regular media commentator and speaker on business and brand strategy. He has authored several articles and is a change agent for future brand value creation in the areas of Corporate Citizenship, Corporate Social Responsibility and Co-Creation strategy.
Prior to Interbrand, James worked for notable agencies Carlson and EuroRSCG Skybridge. James is an advisor to Auckland University Business School, The Marketing Association and Board Dynamics. James’s client experience includes BBC Worldwide, L’Oreal, Mitsubishi, NEC, Sony, Ford Europe, British Airways, McKinsey, Coca-Cola, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, ANZ Bank, Fonterra, Z Energy, Lotto New Zealand and, Telecom, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
