Bill Davis is Managing Director of Empirical Asset Management, based in Newton, MA. Empirical was formed in 2010 to bring to market a set of rules-based investment strategies that eliminate emotional decision-making from the investment process. In its first 24 months, Empirical has grown to $135 million in assets under management, with clients that include endowments, family offices, investment advisors, and individuals. On August 1, 2013, Empirical launched its first rules-based product linked to Sustainability.
Prior to co-founding Empirical, Mr. Davis was founder and CEO of Ze-gen, a renewable energy company. Prior to launching Ze-gen, Mr. Davis’ career in business has included serving as CEO or founder of numerous companies: Database Marketing Corporation in 1986, Holland Mark in 1997, and Cambridge Brand Analytics in 2003.
He is Chair of Telkonet (OTC:TKOI), is Vice Chair of Impact Infrastructure, LLC, and serves on the Boards of Solid Waste Resources International, Cambridge Sound Management, Seven Hills Global Outreach, Boston Harbor Islands National Park, and Commonwealth Corporation. He also serves on the President’s Council for CERES.
Mr. Davis has taught at Columbia University Center for Environmental Research and Conservation, and guest lectured at Harvard College, Harvard Business School, MIT, MIT/Sloan, Boston University, and his daughter’s 7th grade science class at middle school in Winchester, MA.
He graduated from Connecticut College in 1979.
