Teresa Goody is a recognized authority in corporate governance, securities law, and regulatory compliance affairs. She founded and serves as the CEO of the law firm, Goody Counsel PLLC, and it affiliated international consulting firm, Goody Group LLC. Ms. Goody founded the firms to tailor legal and business counsel to entrepreneurs of all sizes and boards of directors. She provides general counsel for all corporate matters – from formation, through mergers and acquisitions, dissolutions, as well as the intervening governance, capital formation, and transactional matters – as well as personal legal counsel for established clients. In addition, Ms. Goody collaborates with senior advisors on evolving legal frameworks, focusing on cybersecurity, fintech, operational strategy, big data and current technology trends, and financial analysis.
Prior to launching the firms, Ms. Goody served as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director at Kalorama Partners and its law firm affiliate, Kalorama Legal Services. In that capacity she undertook independent investigations and counseled clients in many areas, with a focus on the financial services industry. Before joining Kalorama, Ms. Goody was a litigator for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the Office of the General Counsel, as well as at a large international law firm. She began her career clerking for Judge Ricardo M. Urbina on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Goody has appeared as an expert on CNBC and Fox Business Channel, as well as a lecturer at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. She has published articles in leading professional and academic journals and texts on corporate governance, international commercial transactions, anti-corruption, and other topics of current importance to corporate C-suite executives. She earned a JD from Georgetown University Law Center (2002), an MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business (2015), and a BS in Business Administration from George Mason University (1998).
